Pinterest For Wedding Planning
If you don’t know about Pinterest you are in the minority. People love it. It’s like having a multitude of magazines and stores right in front of you, with pictures of anything and everything you are looking for – and not looking for. I find myself spending way too much time traveling the Pinterest landscape. Many brides are using the pinning site to gather ideas for their weddings, and it’s especially useful for a themed wedding – such as tropical or beach destination.
For those of you who don’t know much about the Pinterest site, you will set up an account – but you have to be invited by a friend (someone who already has an account) to join. At least that is how it used to be, not sure now, and truthfully, I don’t see the point.
Once you have an account you will create boards to pin your favorite pictures to. Those pictures, items, products, etc. can come from any blog, sales site, article and so on and if you add the “pin it” button to your tool bar it will work for any page you are reading. Many sites already have a “pinterest” button on their pages for you to promote them. Etsy is a great place to find items to “pin”.
One caution when searching out pictures to pin to your boards – and I’ve found that this is a real problem lately – make sure the picture is linked to an actual site or page. Too many go to an error page, or simple show the picture alone. Everything on the site belongs to someone and it’s only right to have a link back to wherever you got the item.
I have many “boards” that are tropical in nature and I find lots of nice pictures and items all over the Pinterest site – that link to nothing! I won’t “like” or “re-pin” anything that doesn’t end up going someplace. The problem occurs when you are “re-pinning” and don’t check to see where that favorite image came from – or goes to.
I have boards for weddings, Christmas, jewelry and home decor, all related to the ocean and sea life. This relates to my online work, so it all goes together nicely. All of my pins have links.
Pinterest is a nice online way to keep all the wedding items you like neatly together in one place – just make sure you can find your way to the site offering them when you decide to buy.
