Black and White Shells Stationery for Brides and Grooms

Black and White Invites

Big seashells are front and center on this square wedding invitation. Anyone who likes the look of black and white, and wants an eye-catching invite for their beach wedding may like this stationery.
Sand dollars and starfish are always coveted sea treasures to collect on beach vacations and many couples like to use starfish and other beach shells to decorate for weddings. With the ease of customization, this invitation could have colored text in use with any variety of font styles and wording.

If you don’t recognize it, the little spotted shell in the corner is a junonia, which is quite a rare find. It sits alongside a clam shell, sea urchin, and turret shell.

Announce the Rehearsal and Dinner After on Realistic Seashells

Let a collection of pretty seashells be the backdrop for the rehearsal dinner invitation. This design has the wording on a white panel that is offset and to the side of the 5×7 inch, flat card. The font style is a combination of casual, handwritten script and broken print text in light blue. We’d be happy to change it for you, if it’s not your thing.
The seashells that cover the background of the stationery were collected along the beaches of Florida. Prominently displayed are the little, striped sea urchin, calico scallop with it’s dark pinkish purple splotches and a piece of a sand dollar.
The theme of beach shells goes well with any summertime event or beach destination wedding.
This invitation mentions the time of the rehearsal as well as the time of the dinner that will take place afterwards. Templates make it easy to personalize line by line, with the couple’s names at the bottom. Choose whichever paper type you prefer, or leave it at basic for the cheapest price. A minimum order of ten is required, and choose the amount needed by increments of 5 after that. Just type in the number of invitations required.

Using Real Shells For Your Wedding

Bridal Bouquet Shells and Roses

I dream of one day having a beautiful wedding on a tropical beach somewhere. Though I don’t quite have all of the details figured out, (heck…I’m not even engaged) but like any other girl, I do dream about my wedding day. I have some ideas about what I’d like my beach wedding to look like and one thing I’d like to do is include real seashells. After all, can you have a wedding on the beach and not include seashells? One shell in particular, that is well loved and quite beautiful, is the Chambered Nautilus.

So I started researching where to find Nautilus shells to buy. That is when I came across some interesting information about the miraculous creature that spends it’s life building an amazing home that becomes the beautiful shell we love to collect.

The more I thought about this however, I came to realize that these big, beautiful seashells are more than decorations to enhance my wedding day. I wouldn’t want to think that I was so selfish as to actually have these creatures hunted and killed (supply and demand) so I could order up a bunch of their homes to decorate my reception tables. In fact, the Queen or Pink conch is on the endangered species list because of over collecting for it’s meat and pearly pink shell.

If you are worried about the environment, like I am, then I want to provide other options for beach wedding decorations. Instead of buying large and ornate beach shells, see if you can borrow or rent them. The Nautilus, in it’s natural state, has brown stripes on its shell and it is often sold after being “pearlized” to remove the stripes down to the iridescent layers. Once that is done, they don’t look natural anyway. Of course it is anyone’s choice and most people may not know the difference.

Another alternative is to visit a beach and collect your own shells. Empty seashells are fine to collect, since the animal is already dead. The problem is that many large, sought after shells never wash up empty on beaches, they are hunted in their own deep water habitats. If you are lucky and live near a beach, take a romantic walk with your soon to be spouse and collect your own shells. Another option is to use beach glass to decorate. Real or man made, sea glass is a pretty and an environmentally safe alternative.

If you find a large shell or shells (either collected by you or purchased) you can take it to your favorite florist and ask them to use it as the container for a bouquet or to incorporate into your (or your bridesmaids’) bouquet.

So the next time you see a beautiful shell that you would love to use for your beach wedding…stop and think about where it came from and what may have been living in it.

After you take the quick poll below, please read about The Beautiful Chambered Nautilus Creature.
